Karen’s background

 

Karen Pensabene is a councillor on Strathfield Council. She has lived in Strathfield for over 25 years and was awarded Strathfield Citizen of the Year in 2017 for her work leading the fight against the NSW Government’s planned councils amalgamations. Karen has served as Vice-Chair and volunteer for Strathfield/Homebush Meals on Wheels and is current Patron of the Strathfield West Seniors. She is a member of the Strathfield Choir and is a strong supporter of the Symphonia Jubilate and Strathfield Symphony Orchestra. Karen is also a regular visitor to local retirement villages, the Strathfield School for Seniors and is deeply involved with numerous community groups in our local area.

Prior to council, she worked for 11 years as a qualified practice manager for a major Sydney city dental healthcare practice. From 1985 to 1990, she worked for Johnson & Johnson Medical where she was recognised for her marketing and sales expertise by being awarded the ‘Sales and Marketing Person of the Year’.

Since 2013 she has been a dedicated Labor Party member and President of the Strathfield Labor Branch. Karen is a wife, mother and grandmother of three children and four grandchildren who were all bought up in Strathfield and attended St Martha’s Primary School and Santa Sabina College.
